How good are Adams Polishes products? Several of my cars needed their headlights cleaned up so I figured I would do a headlight restoration kit review and share my thoughts on the Adams Polishes kit.
If your car sits outside, over time the headlights will become oxidized from exposure to the sun. This causes the gross yellowing of the headlight and can be a real eyesore on your car.
Restoring your headlights not only refines the look of your vehicle, it also improves the brightness of the lens.
It’s also a great practice before selling a car on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace.
The cheap way to restore headlights is with bug spray that contains DEET, like OFF Repellent. This method works, but you have to use some elbow grease to remove all of the cloudiness. And the fix only works for a short while. I used this method on my truck before and it works, it just doesn’t last.
A proper headlight restoration kit, like the one from Adams Polishes, comes with a convenient tool for attaching different cutting pads onto a power drill of your choice.
The Adams Polishes Headlight kit costs $27.99 on Amazon and includes:
- 2 grey utility towels
- 1 Cordless Drill Backing Plate (4”)
- 2 Microfiber Cutting Pads (4”)
- 1 Blue Foam Pad (4”)
- 1 White Foam Pad (4”)
- 1 Bottle of Heavy Correcting Compound (2oz)
- 1 Bottle of Finishing Polish (2oz)
- 1 Bottle of Adam’s Detail Spray (2oz)
- 1 Pair of Green Rubber Gloves
Using a proper headlight restoration kit will keep your headlights looking better for longer. The Adams kit is also well priced compared to the several hundred dollar 3m kit.
My Fiance’s Mini Cooper has spent most of its life outdoors. As a result, one of the headlights was extremely oxidized and provided a perfect example of how the kit performs.
One thing to remember is that oxidation happens on both the outside and inside of the headlight. This kit only provides a solution for restoring the outside of the headlight.
There is a lot of hype surrounding Adams Polishes products and you can see lots of Instagram pages promoting their products.
This review is not a promotion, but rather an objective write-up on a product that was purchased for personal use.
Every car in my personal fleet needed their headlights restored, especially my Subaru since I was planning on showing the car at Growl Fest 2019 in July at Pikes Peak International Raceway in beautiful Colorado. The headlights were good, but they needed to be perfect.
Would I Suggest The Headlight Restoration Kit To A Friend?
Yes, the kit did the job and the pads in the kit are washable and reusable. The Mini Cooper image shows that the kit isn’t perfect and that if you have oxidation on the inside of the lens, you will have to settle for a slightly cloudy headlight. Or you can shell out a couple more bucks and get a replacement Headlight on Amazon that will be crystal clear and brand new.
If you are a professional detailer, you should probably spring for the more pricey 3M kit and pads. But if you want a solid headlight restoration kit to keep in your garage for your own vehicles, The Adams Polishes kit will do just fine.
