More Details On This Crazy Engine Explosion

From BangShift:

During a hook, the Jacked up truck was proceeding down course as normal when all of a sudden to the shock of everyone the entire top half of the big Caterpillar engine powering the truck was shot through the hood and actually fired forward of the still moving truck. The crank, rods, and camshaft stayed under the hood and EVERYTHING ELSE was thrown clear. The block basically shattered at the base of the cylinder bores and all of the boost inside it at the time propelled the mass of pig iron out of the truck.

The amount of damage to the truck is kind of astounding. Outside of the obvious engine stuff there’s the fact that all of the sheetmetal in the front of the rig is destroyed. the cowl is destroyed, the windshields were knocked out, and the list goes on and on. A forklift was needed to move the debris off the track and we’d be shocked if the stuff that was shot out of the truck weighs less than 1,000lbs.
