There is no comparison to driving a classic 5 speed manual transmission. There is a feeling you get as you row through the gears. You make a surreal connection between man and machine.

We are big fans of manual transmissions. It is our hope that more people to learn how to drive them.

In 1980, one out of every three new cars in the US were sold with a manual transmission. Today less than 10% of new cars have a manual transmission.

Take a moment today to share this video with a friend who might be interested in learning to drive a car with a 5 speed manual transmission.

We have to preserve and pass on our passion for driving manuals.

From Road and Track:

Unlike a lot of other long-winded stick-shift how-to videos, Knox doesn’t really waste any time explaining how a manual transmission works. He says people new to sticks should adjust themselves to having to use their left leg to depress the clutch, and understand its relation to shifting gears. Then, he goes straight into getting the car moving, demonstrating you don’t need to actually use any gas to set off. From there, he incorporates the gas pedal into the equation for faster starts, and then, graduates to shifting gears on the move. All of this is done in the span of five minutes.
