An immensely powerful Camaro set the dyno record for a hub dyno with a 5395 wheel horsepower pull! This feat was completed on a Fuel Tech hub dyno with a sick ProLine Hemi build.

I expect this sleek orange hotrod to put down some impressive times and top speeds when they get it dialed at the track. In any event, FuelTech better post some passes on their Youtube Channel. 🤞

Check out The video. The record setting pull starts at 10:38.

Hub Dynos vs Roller Dynos

This dyno record was set on a hub dyno and since it hooks up directly, it can handle almost double the power compared to a roller dyno. Roller dynos typically can’t handle more than 2700 horsepower. Past that, the tires break free of the dynamometer and you can no longer accurately measure the torque and rotational speed.

I put my WRX on the roller dyno at 5250 Performance to get tuned when I lived in Colorado. After break-in of my new IAG engine, it cranked out 302 whp and 308 tq on 91 octane pump gas at elevation. It made for a fun street car, but I did not make big impressions or set records at the dragstrip. It was still fun to make passes though! I made it out to several test and tune sessions just for fun at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, CO and made it into the 100 mph club.

Primarily though, the Subaru was most fun on Colorado’s canyon roads. I think Deer Creek Canyon Rd is my favorite (due west of the Chatfield Reservoir). One thing to note is that on days with nice weather, road bicyclists are all up and down the road. To avoid this, I mostly cruised the canyon when it was good cold boost weather.
