The 2002 WRX build is now on the road! Just-N-Tyme Performance finished the Bugeye build in the last few days of 2018.

This car is absolutely awesome!

My name is Will and I love cars, and especially my 2002 WRX wagon. I have owned the car since 2009 and in 2018 I decided to up the performance drastically and do a full engine build.

Just-N-Tyme Performance is located in Fredericksburg, VA which is just a short drive from my hometown of Harrisonburg.I consider them to be some of the best Subaru Engine builders on the East Coast. Patrons drive from other states, just to have Just-N-Tyme work on their Subarus.

So far, I am very happy with the work Justin and his team did on my car.

The 2002 WRX Engine Build Details

The goal of the build was a reliable performance car that could do well on the track, road, and the occasional off-road adventure.  I had previously installed subtle solutions 1-inch lift which I decided to keep and reinforce while doing the engine build.

The build is a Hybrid build with an IAG 2.5 liter block paired with the Heads from a 2-liter WRX.

I had several engine components powder coated while the engine was being built. I decided on a combo of gold, black, and red!

To begin 2019, I started the process of breaking-in the new IAG engine! I drove the car 1500 miles around Virginia for the first part of the break-in. The latter half of the process was completed on a trip from Virginia To Colorado. Stay tuned as I will be creating a detailed post on engine break-ins and the best practices for properly doing the job (especially for Subarus and IAG blocks).

The car ran fine in the higher elevations, but I now live in Denver so I will be needing a proper tune for the altitude and local premium gas, which is only 91 octane.
